Ingredients

  • 1 cup butter
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 12 to 16 oysters on the half shell
  • 1 cup grated Prrmesan cheese

Step 1

Broiler or Chargrilled

In a small saucepan, melt butter over medium heat. Bring to a simmer, skim foam off the top, and discard. Remove pan from heat; stir in garlic powder. Place oysters on a foil-lined broiler pan and lightly sprinkle with grated Parmesan. Broil oysters, 2 to 3 minutes, or until cheese starts to brown. Generously pour garlic butter over each oyster. Cook 1 to 2 minutes; avoid overcooking. Serve immediately.

CHARGRILLED OYSTERS

Start by cleaning the shells using a stiff brush. Using an oyster knife. Shuck the oysters. (If ou don't have an oyster knife, use a knife with a dull blade, never a sharp kitchen knife). Next line up the oysters on lava rock gas grill. After the oysters spend a few minutes on the grill, sprinkle them with finely grated Parmesan cheese. While they are cooking splash the garlic butter over the oysters. GARLIC BUTTER CAUSES THE FIRE TO FLARE UP WHICH GIVES THE OYSTERS THE CHARGRILLED FLAVOR. Before serving top the oysters wtih a little more garlic butter.
