Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 cups plus 3 tablespoons unsalted butter, softened and divided
  • 1 (16-ounce) box confectioners' sugar
  • 6 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2 3/4 cups sifted ake flour
  • 1 tablespoon grated orange zest
  • 1/3 cup firmly packed brown sugar
  • 1/3 cup chopped salted pistachios
  • 1/2 teaspon ground cinnamon

Preparation

Step 1

1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Spray a 10-inch fluted tube pan with nonstick baking spray with flour

2. In a large bowl, beat 1 1/2 cups butter at medium speed with a mixer until creamy. Gradually beat in confectiners' sugar until flufy. Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition. Beat in vanilla and salt. Gradually beat in flour until combined.

3. Combine remaining 3 tablespoons butter, orange zest, brown sugar, pistachios, and cinnamon; crumble into pan. Spread batter over pistachio mixture.

Bake for 55 minutes or until a wooden pick inserted in center comes out clean. Let cool in pan for 10 minutes. Remove from pan, and let cool completely on a wire rake. Drizzle wtih Vanilla Glaze, and sprinkle with pistachios,if desired.


VANILLA GLAZE

Makes about 1 1/4 cups

2 cups fonfectioners' sugar
6 to 8 tablespoons whipping cream, divided.
1/2 teaspoon vanilla exract

1. In a bowl, combine 2 cups confectioners' sugar, 6 tablespoons cream, and vanilla, stirring until smooth. Add additional cream, if necessary, to reach desired consistency.
