Ingredients

  • 2 bls. fish steaks (such as halibut or favorite)
  • 1 tbsp cooking oil
  • 1 tbsp butter/hard margarine
  • 1 cup chopped onion
  • 1 cup soda cracker crumbs
  • 2 tsp ground marjoram
  • 13-1/2 oz. skim evaporated milk (or light cream)
  • 3/4 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp pepper

Step 1

If steaks are large, cut in half. Brush with cooking oil. Arrange in greased baking dish large enough to hold in single layer.

Melt butter in frying pan. Add onion. Saute until soft and golden. Remove from heat.

Stir in cracker crumbs, marjoram, milk, salt and pepper. Spoon over fish. Bake, covered, in 375 oven for about 35 minutes until fish flakes.
