Ingredients

  • 1 cup butter, softened
  • 1 cup firmly packed brown sugar
  • 2 cups flour
  • 1 tsp. baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 2 egg whites
  • 1 cup chopped walnuts or pecans

Preparation

Step 1

Place butter and brown sugar in a mixer bowl. Cream until lighted and combined. Scrape bowl and mix another minute. Add flour, balking powder and salt and mix 1 1/2 minutes, or until soft dough forms.

Press dough into an ungreased 15 x 10 x 1 inch baking pan. Beat egg whites until slightly foamy. Brush dough with egg whites and sprinkle with chopped nuts.

Bake at 375 degrees for 20 - 25 minutes. Cut into bars while still warm.
