  • 1 lb beef stew meat, trimmed of fat, cut into 1/2 inch cubes
  • 7 cups water
  • 1 tsp gravy browner
  • 1-1/2 cups chopped onion
  • 1-1/2 cups grated potato
  • 3/4 cups grated carrot
  • 2 tsp paprika
  • 2 tsp parsley flakes
  • 1 tbsp ketchup
  • 1/8 tsp thyme
  • 1-1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp pepper

Preparation

Step 1

Heat beef, water and gravy browner, covered in dutch oven until boiling. Boil gently for 1-1/2 hours. Beef should be very tender.

Add remaining 9 ingredients. Stir. Return to a boil. Cover. Boil gentle, stirring occasionally for 20 to 25 minutes until vegetables are tender. Taste for seasoning, adding more if needed.
