Oatmeal Cookies

Ingredients

• 1 cup Shortening or 1/2 cup Butter or 1/2 cup Crisco
• 1 cup Brown Sugar
• 1 cup White Sugar
• 2 Eggs
• 1 tsp. Vanilla
• 1 1/2 c. Flour
• 1 tsp Salt
• 1 tsp Soda
• 3 cup Rolled Oats
• 1/2 cup Chopped Nuts or Raisins

Preparation

Step 1

Cream sugar and shortening; add eggs and vanilla. Sift flour, measure, sift again with salt and soda. Add to first mixture. Add nuts and rolled oats. Drop by spoonfulls on greased cookie sheet ans bake at 375º for 10 minutes.
Mixture may stand in refrigerator and bake as needed.

Oatmeal Surprise Cookies
With egg and vanilla add approximatly 1 1/4 cup grated apple. Take cuisinart. To dry ingredients, add 1 1/2 tsp cinnamon. To oatmeal add raisins, nuts and 3/4 cup grated apple. Mix well. Bake as above.
