- 1 cup milk
- 1 Tablespoon vinegar

- 1/2 cup butter or margarine
- 2 cups firmly packed light brown sugar
- 2 cups sifted all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon nutmeg (fresh grated is best!)
- 1 egg
- 1 teaspoon baking soda

Step 1
In small bowl, combine milk and vinegar; set aside.
In large mixer bowl, cream butter and brown sugar. Blend in flour and nutmeg. Mixture will be crumbly. Reserve 1/2 cup of the crumb mixture.
To remaining crumb mixture, blend in milk/vinegar mixture, egg and baking soda. Turn into greased 7" x 11" baking pan. Sprinkle with reserved crumb mixture.
Bake at 350 degrees fpr 35 minutes or until cake springs back when lightly touched.
