Ingredients

  • 1 lb. lean ground beef, browned and drained
  • 2 cups water
  • 4 oz. thin spaghetti
  • 1 can stewed tomatoes (16 oz.)
  • 1 can plain tomato sauce
  • 1 tsp. oregano
  • 2 cloves garlic
  • 1 tbsp. minced parsley (about)
  • Salt and pepper

Step 1

Spray 9 x 13 inch roasting pan with Pam. Spread beef evenly in pan. Add water, tomatoes, tomato sauce, and condiments. Stir. Break spaghetti into 4-inch lengths. Spread evenly over all. Stir a little. Make sure spaghetti is not in clumps and that it is covered by liquid. Bake in 425 degree oven for 20 or 30 minutes. It is done when most of liquid is absorbed. 295 calories per serving. 6 servings.
May substitute 1/2 cup of wine (red or white) for 1/2 cup of the water. If desired, stir in 1 4-oz. can mushrooms, undrained. (330 calories).
For extra flavor, use a can of fat-skinned, condensed beef broth with water to make 2 cups. Add 20 cal. per serving.
