Preparation
Step 1
The cookies have by far become the most popular post on Baked Perfection. I made them last year and they became an overnight hit on Pinterest. Therefore I decided to make them again for you. This time I rolled a third of the cookies in Christmas colored non-sprinkles to make them extra festive. These cookies are really delicious and you should definitely try to make them!
A couple people commented on my last post that these cookies came out flat for them. A couple tips, don't roll them too large and make sure your butter is not too soft or warm. If your dough is too sticky, just add up to 1/2 cup more flour.
Preheat over to 350 degrees Fahrenheit. Remove wrappers from candies (approx. 35)
Beat
butter, sugar, vanilla, and egg in large bowl until well blended. Stir
together flour, baking soda and salt; add alternatively with milk to
butter mixture, beating until well blended.
Shape dough into 1 inch balls. Roll in red and/or green colored sugar. Place on ungreased cookie sheet.
I have already copied your original post so I can try to make these when we get home. When I was a kid, Christmas tradition was a version of these with peanut butter and a milk chocolate kiss. I can't wait to have BOTH this year! I am a truck driver and baking is something I look forward to doing when I get home for a break. I've really enjoyed looking through your blog for inspiration and ideas to try when I'm home in my kitchen!
I love these, and make a chocolate variety by adding 1/3 cup dark cocoa powder to the dry ingredients. Yum!
I have been drooling over these cookies for weeks now! I went to make them today but realized I hadn't picked up the kisses :-/ I'm praying they are still in stock when I got tomorrow!!
To the last comment, I bet your butter was too soft or warm. If this ever happens with just about any recipe try adding some flour until it comes together and and not sticky.
That is exactly how I make colored sugar. Just squish it around in a sandwich bag until you have consistent color.
