Ingredients

  • Raspberry Sauce:
  • (12 oz) bag frozen raspberries, thawed
  • 1/4 C sugar
  • 1 t lemon juice
  • Waffles:
  • 3 oz. bittersweet chocolate, finely chopped
  • 4 T butter, cut into pieces
  • 1/2 C sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 t vanila
  • 1/4 C milk
  • 6 T flour
  • 2 T cocoa powder
  • 1/2 t baking powder
  • ice cream
  • Fresh raspberries, for garnish

Preparation

Step 1

1. Sauce: Puree raspberries, sugar and lemon juice in blender. Press through a fine sieve into measuring cup.
2. Waffles: Heat Belgian waffle maker.
3. Combine chocolate and butter in bowl and microwave on high til melted, 1-2 minutes; whisk until smooth.
4. In large bowl, whisk sugar, eggs, vanilla and milk. Whisk in melted chocolate mixture. Stir in flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt until smooth.
5. Ladle batter into waffle iron. Cook until waffles are firm and baked through, 3-5 minutes. Carefully transfer cooked waffles to cutting board and cut into heart shape with 4 inch cutter. Place each waffle on serving plate, top with scoop of ice cream, then drizzle with some raspberry sauce and fresh raspberries.
