Ingredients
- 3/4 lb black-eyed peas or navy beans
- 2- 14 1/2 oz cans chicken broth (2 cups)
- 1 1/2 cups water
- 1 cup ham, chopped
- 4 carrots, sliced
- 1 cup celery, sliced
- 1/4 cup onion, chopped
- 1 tsp ground thyme
- 1/4 tsp ground red pepper
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice

Mix all ingredients in stock pot. Cook on a low boil until beans are done and flavors blended.
