- 3 cups flour
- 1 1/2 cups sugar
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1 pinch ground cinnamon
- 1 cup shortening
- 1 egg
- 3 teaspoons cornstarch
- 4 cups fresh blueberries

Preparation
Step 1
1. Preheat oven to 275 F. Grease a 9x13 inch pan.
2. In a bowl, stir together flour, 1 cup sugar, and baking powder. Mix in salt and cinnamon. Use a fork or pastry cutter to blend in shortening and egg (dough will be crumbly). Pat half of dough into prepared pan.
3. In another bowl, stir together cornstarch and remaining 1/2 cup sugar. Gently mix in blueberries. Sprinkle blueberry mixture evenly over crust. Crumble remaining dough over berry layer. (From our kitchen: Taste your berries. If they aren't very sweet, you might need an extra tablespoon of sugar.)
4. Bake for 45 minutes, or until top is slightly brown. Cool completely before cutting into bars.
