Ingredients
- FROSTING:
- 1 cup shortening
- 2 cups sugar
- 4 eggs
- 2 tsp. vanilla extract
- 3-1/2 cups flour
- 1 cup baking cocoa
- 2 tsp. baking soda
- 1 tsp. salt
- 3 cups confectioner's sugar
- 1/3 cup baking cocoa
- 1/3 cup butter or margarine, softened
- 1/4 tsp. almond extract
- 3-4 tablespoons milk

Preparation
Step 1
In a large mixing bowl cream shortening and sugar. Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition. Beat in vanilla. Combine the flour, cocoa, baking soda and salt; gradually add to creamed mixture.
Roll into 1-1/2 inch balls. Place 2 inches apart on an ungreased baking sheet. Bake at 350 degrees F for 13-16 minutes or until set. Remove to wire racks to cool.
For the frosting, in a mixing bowl combine the confectioner's sugar, cocoa, butter and extract. Add enough milk to achieve spreading consistency. Frost cooled cookies.
