  • 2 loaves of day-old bread (enough to fill a 9×13 pan)
  • 3 cups milk
  • 8 eggs
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • Topping ingredients
  • 1 stick softened butter
  • 1 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1 cup chopped pecans

Preparation

Step 1

Slice or tear bread and layer in 9×13 baking dish. Let it sit for a while so it dries out a little bit more. Beat together milk and eggs. Then add sugar, cinnamon and vanilla and mix well. Pour over bread slowly, making sure all of the bread gets covered and is wet from the milk mixture.

Cover the pan and set it in the refrigerator overnight.

Then next morning, preheat oven to 350º. Mix together butter, brown sugar and cinnamon. Then stir in chopped pecans. Remove bake from fridge and spread this evenly over the top. Bake for 50 minutes at 350º until the top begins to brown and the center is springy when tapped.

Let the bake sit for 10 minutes prior to cutting and serving. Enjoy!
