Ingredients

  • 7

    oz cheese ( American or cheddar) finely grated

  • 6

    cups broth (chicken or vegetable)

  • 4

    T butter

  • 4

    T flour

  • 6

    pcs toast

  • Ground nutmeg to taste

  • Herbs to taste

  • salt & pepper to taste

Directions

Melt the butter in a saucepan and brown the flour. Pour in the broth, stirring, & cook for 5-7 minutes. Add the cheese & nutmeg; salt & pepper to taste. Put the toast on the bottom of the dish & pour the soup over. Garnish with herbs to taste.
