Ingredients
- 1/2 cup raisins
- 1/2 cup diced candied fruit
- 2 tablespoons brandy
- 1 cup sugar
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1/8 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup applesauce
- 1 egg
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
- 1/4 teaspoon ground cloves
- 1/4 teaspoon allspice
- 1 cup chopped walnuts or pecans

Preparation
Step 1
1. Preheat the oven to 350°F. Grease and flour the pan.
2. Soak the raisins and fruit in brandy; set aside. In a large mixing bowl, mix the sugar and butter until light and fluffy. Add the egg and applesauce; mix well.
3. Add all the remaining ingredients except the nuts; mix well. Mix in the soaked fruit and nuts. Spoon into the prepared pan.
4. Bake for 50 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center of the cake comes out clean. Let cool 10 minutes. Remove from the pan; cool completely on a rack. To store, wrap tightly in plastic wrap.
