Ingredients
- Topping:
- 2 pkg. Active dry Yeast
- 1/4 cup Warm Water
- 3/4 cup Buttermilk
- 3 Tblsp. Sugar
- 1 Tsp. Salt
- 3 Tblsp. Soft Shortening
- 1 Large Egg, beaten
- 2 3/4 to 3 cups Flour
- 1/2 cup Sugar
- 2 Tblsp. Brown Sugar
- 1/2 Tsp. Cinnamon
- 2 Tblsp. Melted Butter
- 1/4 cup Chopped Nuts

Step 1
Sprinkle yeast into warm water; pour into large mixing bowl with 3 tblsp. sugar, salt; blend; cool til lukewarm. Stir in yeast mixture, then shortening, egg, half of flour; with spoon, beat til smooth. Add more flour until dough begins to clean sides of bowl. Turn dough onto lightly floured surface. Knead lightly until smooth about 30 secons. Cover with damp cloth; let rise 5 minutes. Place in lightly greased 9 X 9 cake pan or two 8 inch layer pans; pat evenly in pans. Let rise in warm place until doubled in bulk-30 to 40 minutes.
Mix 1/2 cup sugar, brown sugar, cinnamon, melted butter and nuts. With fingers, make several dents in dough; cover top with sugar mixture. Bake at 375 degrees 35 to 45 mintues. Cool on a rack.
