Ingredients

  • TOPPING:
  • 1 1/4 cup boiling water
  • 1 stick oleo
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 cup quick cooking oatmeal
  • 1 cup white sugar
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1 1/3 cup all purpose flour
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1 tsp. soda
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • 1/2 tsp. nutmeg
  • 1 tsp. cinnamon
  • 5 tbsp oleo
  • 2/3 cup brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup cream
  • 1 cup coconut
  • 1/2 cup nuts
  • 1 tsp. vanilla

Cooking time 30mins

Preparation

Step 1

Pour boiling water over oatmeal and oleo and let stand 20 minutes.

Stir in sugar and egg

Sift flour, salt, soda and spices, add to oatmeal and sugar mixture. Add vanilla.

Pour into well greased pan 9X13. Bake 325 degrees 30 to 35 min.

TOPPING:

Cream oleo and sugar, add cream then coconut, nuts, vanilla. Put on top of cake, return to oven on high.
Heat just till it all bubbles and coconut is light browned.
