Ingredients
- l tablespoon olive oil
- l tablespoon butter
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 shallots, minced
- l cup vodka
- l cup chicken stock
- l can crushed tomatoes (32 oz)
- kosher salt and pepper
- l6 oz pasta, such as penne
- 1/2 cup heavy cream
- 20 leaves fresh basil, shredded or torn

Preparation
Step 1
Heat a large skillet over moderate heat. Add oil, butter, garlic and shallots. Gently saute shallots for 3 to 5 minutes. Add vodka to the pan and reduce vodka by half, about 2 to 3 minutes. Add chicken stock and tomatoes. Bring sauce to a bubble and reduce heat to simmer. Season with salt and pepper.
Meanwhile cook pasta.
In sauce, stir in heavy cream. Return to bubble, nremove it from heat. Drain pasta and toss hot pasta with sauce and then add basil leaves.
