Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground hamburger
  • 3 Russet potatoes
  • 2 carrots
  • 3 tbs butter
  • Salt
  • 2 parsnips
  • 1/4 C cream
  • Pepper
  • 1 tbs flour
  • 1/4 C sour cream
  • garlic and onion powder
  • 1 //2 C beef stock
  • 1 egg
  • paprika

Preparation

Step 1

Brown the meat with salt, pepper, garlic and onion powder. Drain the fat from the pan. Sprinkle with flour then pour stock in. Cook for another 2 minutes. Put in a deep pie plate. Chop veggies and saute until tender. Mix them in with the meat.

Peel, chop and boil potatoes. Drain them well and mash them via your method. I prefer to whip them in my stand mixer with butter, cream, sour cream, egg, salt and pepper. I know the egg sounds weird but it gives the potatoes a little crust. Layer the potatoes over the meat and sprinkle with paprika. Bake until all nice and hot, if it has cooled. I like to time it so everything finishes together, it's all still hot and I just put it under the broiler to get a nice brown crust on top.
