NY Strip Steaks with Mushroom Sauce (Paula Deen)

Ingredients
- 1 TB Butter
- 8 oz. package of gourmet mushroom blend
- 1/2 shallot, minced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1/2 cup beef broth
- 1/2 cup dry red wine
- 2 TB heavy whipping cream (half & half)
- 1/4 tsp dried thyme
- Salt & Pepper
- 3 (1-inch thick) - New York Strip Steaks
- 1 TB olive oil

Step 1
Sauce:
In large skillet, melt butter over med heat. Add mushrooms, shallot and garlic; cook, stirring frequently until tender. Add broth and wine; bring to a boil, reduce heat, and simmer until liquid is reduced to 1/4 cup. Stir in cream, and simmer until thickened. Stir in thyme, salt & pepper. Set aside and keep warm.
Steaks:
Sprinkle steaks evenly with salt & pepper. In large skillet, heat oil over med-high heat. Add steaks, and cook for 4-5 minutes per side or to desired doneness. Remove from pan and let stand for 10 minutes.
Serve steaks with mushroom sauce.
