Ingredients

  • 2 1/2 C flour
  • 1/2 C cocoa powder
  • 1 t baking soda
  • 1/2 t salt
  • 1 C butter, softened
  • 2 C sugar
  • 4 eggs
  • 1 C sour cream
  • 1/2 C milk
  • Red food color
  • 2 t vanilla
  • Vanilla Cream Cheese Frosting
  • 1 package (8oz) softened cream cheese
  • 4 T softened butter
  • 2 T sour cream
  • 2 t vanilla
  • 1 box (16 oz) powdered sugar

Preparation

Step 1

MIX flour, cocoa, baking soda, and salt.
BEAT butter and sugar in a large bowl with electric mixer on medium speed 5 minutes or until light and fluffy. Beat in eggs, 1 at a time. Mix sour cream, milk, food coloring, and vanilla. Gradually beat in flour mixture on low speed just until blended. Spoon batter into paper-lined muffin cups, filling each cup 2/3 full.
BAKE in preheated 350 degree oven 20 to 25 minutes. Cool in pans 5 minutes. Remove from pans; cool completely. Spread with frosting.
Frosting; beat cream cheese, butter, sour cream, and vanilla in large bowl with mixer until light and fluffy. Gradually beat in powdered sugar on medium speed until smooth.
