The wandering muffin man who sold muffins fresh to every household was a familiar figure on the streets of every English town, and the cry with which he advertised his wares was one of the fmailiar street noises through the Edwardian era.

Ingredients
- 1/4 cup lukewarm water
- 3/4 cup milk, scalded and cooled
- 2 Tablespoons butter
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 3 cups sifted all-purpose flour
- 2 1/4 teaspoons active dry yeast

Preparation
Step 1
Place all ingredients in bread machine pan. Select DOUGH CYCLE.
When done, remove dough and form into 8 English muffins.
Sprinkle surfaces with cornmeal and let rise, covered, until doubled in bulk.
Place risen muffin on 325 degree griddle for 10-12 minutes per side. or until golden brown.
Cool, fork split and toast!
