Ingredients

  • 2-3 tablespoons Shortening soft or melted or bacon grease or combination
  • 2 cups Adluh Self-rising White Cornmeal
  • 1 tablespoon Sugar optional
  • 1 Egg
  • 1 1/4 cup Milk
  • 2 tablespoons Bacon grease or melted butter

Preparation

Step 1

Preheat oven to 475 degrees.

Put 3 tablespoons of shortening/grease in cast iron skillet and put in oven while it preheats.

Mix together egg, milk and grease/butter. Add all at once to dry ingredients. Pour the batter into hot skillet. Put back into preheated oven. Bake 20 - 25 minutes until golden brown.
