Ingredients
- 1 teaspoon turmeric powder
- 1 teaspoon poppy seed
- 1 teaspoon cumin seed
- 6 peppercorns
- 1 tablespoon coriander seed
- 3 cloves garlic
- 3 cm. (1 inch) piece ginger
- 2 green chiles
- 3 tablespoons grated coconut
- 3 tablespoons ghee
- 1 onion, chopped
- 1 chicken, cut in pieces
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon garam masala
- Juice of 1 lemon

Step 1
Grind the spices with the garlic, chilies and coconut. Heat the ghee and fry the onion until golden. Add the marsala paste. Fry the marsala paste for 2 minutes. Now put in the chicken pieces and fry well. Add a cup of water, salt and garam marsala and simmer gently till the chicken is tender. Add the lemon juice and serve with rice and dahl.
