  • 1 C. butter, softened
  • 1/2 C. sugar
  • 2 1/2 C. flour
  • Colored sugar, optional

Preparation

Step 1

In a mixing bowl, cream butter and sugar; gradually add flour. Divide dough in half. Chill for 2 hours or until dough is easy to handle.
On a lightly floured surface, roll out each portion to 1/4-in. thickness. Cut with 2-3" cookie cutters dipped in flour. Place 1" apart on ungreased baking sheets. Sprinkle with colored sugar if desired. bake at 300* for 20-25 min. or until lightly browned. Remove to wire racks to cool.
