Sweet and Spicy French Dressing

If you prefer a sweet dressing, you'll enjoy this tangy version of the traditional vinaigrette. Use it on romaine lettuce, watercress, or spinach, or to marinate such cold cooked vegetables as beets, carrots, or green beans.

Ingredients
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1/2 cup cider vinegar
- 1 tbsp all-purpose flour
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
- 1/2 cup finely chopped onion
- 1 clove garlic, minced or pressed
- 1 cup salad oil
- 1/3 cup catsup
- 1 tsp celery seeds

Step 1
In a small pan, combine sugar, vinegar, and flour. Cook, stirring over medium heat until bubbly and thick. Pour into a blender container and add salt, Worcestershire sauce, onion, and garlic; whirl until smooth. With blender on lowest speed, slowly add oil in a thin, steady stream, whirling until blended.
Transfer mixture to a bowl and stir in catsup and celery seeds. If made ahead, cover and refrigerate for up to a month.
