Ingredients

  • 4 (1/2 lb) Club steaks
  • 10 shallots, thinly sliced
  • 2 Tbsp olive oil, divided
  • 3/4 cup balsamic vinegar
  • 2 Tbsp dijon mustard
  • 1 Tbsp maple syrup
  • coarse salt and pepper

Preparation

Step 1

Preheat oven to 225.

In a large grill pan or skillet, heat 1 Tbsp oil. Sprinkle steaks with salt and pepper and pan sear over high heat, about 3 minutes on each side. Remove steaks from pan and place in a 9x13 pan.

Add 1 tbsp oil to grill pan and saute shallots until soft, about 5 minutes. Add vinegar, mustard, and maple syrup to the pan and mix over medium heat until sauce comes to a boil. Lower flame and cook until sauce is reduced and syrupy, about 2 minutes.

Pour sauce over steaks. Cover pan tightly with foil and bake for about 2 hours.
