Ingredients
- 1 cup (2 sticks) butter softened
- 1 cup firmly packed light brown sugar
- 1 egg
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 1-3/4 cups unsifted all-purpose flour
- 8 squares (1 oz. each) semisweet chocolate
- 64 pecan halves or 3/4 cup finely chopped pecans

Preparation
Step 1
Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
Grease 15" x 10" x 1" jelly roll pan. Beat together butter and sugar in large mixing bowl until well mixed. Beat in eggs and vanilla. Stir in flour until well blended. Spread dough evenly over bottom of prepared pan.
Bake in preheated 350 degree oven for 25 minutes until lightly browned on top. While cookie crust is baking, melt chocolate in top of double boiler over hot water. Remove cookie crust from oven. Spread chocolate in an even layer over top. Set pecan halves in chocolate or sprinkle chopped pecans over top. Cut into bars, while slightly warm. Store in cool place.
