Ingredients

    cup vegetable oil

  • 4

    medium (about 1-¼ lbs.) onions, thinly sliced

  • 1-½

    lbs. boneless sirloin, cut into ½ inch-wide strips

  • ¼

    tsp chili powder

  • ¼

    tsp ground black pepper

  • 1

    tsp salt

  • 2

    tsp Worcestershire sauce

  • 2

    tsp molasses

  • 2

    cloves garlic

  • 2

    (about 12 oz.) red bell peppers, thinly sliced

  • 2

    (about 12 oz.) green bell peppers, thinly sliced

  • 4

    small (about 6 inches long) Italian or French loaves of bread, split open

  • ½

    cup shredded mozzarella cheese

  • ½

    cup shredded provolone cheese

Directions

1. Prepare the meat filling: in a large nonstick skillet, heat over medium heat and saute onions and sirloin until onions are soft, about 3 min. Add chili powder, pepper, salt, Worcestershire sauce, molasses and garlic, cook for 5 min., stirring occaisionally. Add red and green peppers and cook 3 more min. 2. Assemble the sandwiches: Preheat oven or broiler. Fill each loaf with 2 cups of meat mixture and sprinkle with 2 tbsp mozzarella and 2 tbsp provolone. Place under broiler until cheese melts. 30 seconds to 1 min.
