Ingredients
- 4 quarts water
- 1/4 cup Old Bay seafood seasoning
- 1 tablespoon salt
- 1 (12-ounce) can beer, optional
- 4 medium-sized red potatoes, cut into quarters
- 1 large sweet onion, peeled and cut into wedges
- 4 ears fresh corn, cut in half
- 1 pound smoked sausage, cut into 2-inch lengths
- 2 pounds uncooked large shrimp with shells

Preparation
Step 1
In an 8- to 12-quart soup pot, bring the water, Old Bay Seasoning, salt, and beer, if desired, to a boil over high heat.
Add potatoes and onions, and cook 8 minutes. Add corn and sausage, and cook 8 more minutes, stirring occasionally.
Add shrimp and cook 2 minutes, or until shrimp turn pink. Drain liquid from pot and serve immediately.
