Ingredients

  • 1 lg. head cabbage, shredded
  • 2 large onions, chopped
  • 2 large bell peppers, chopped
  • 1 small jar chopped pimento, drained
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 cup whit vinegar
  • 3/4 cup vegetable oil
  • 2 T. sugar
  • 1 T. salt
  • 1 T. celery seed

Preparation

Step 1

Combine cabbage, onions, bell pepper and drained pimento in a container with a tight-fitting lid. Sprinkle with 1 cup sugar. Combine vinegar, oil, 2 tablespoons sugar, salt, and celery seed in a saucepan and bring to a boil. When boiling well, pour over cabbage mixture. Do not stir. Cover and refrigerate overnight (24 hours is best). Mix well and serve or return to refrigerator.
