- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 1/4 teaspoons baking soda
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon baking powder
- 2/3 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 2/3 cup packed brown sugar

Step 1
One Jar Classic Chocolate Cake Mix:
Sift flour, baking soda, salt and baking powder together in mixing bowl. Layer ingredients in 1 quart wide mouth jar in following order: flour mixing, cocoa, granulated sugar and brown sugar. Seal jar. Decorate jar and attach gift tag/recipe card as follows:
Classic Chocolate Cake:
3/4 cup (1 1/2 sticks) butter, softened
3 eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla
1 jar Classic Chocolate Cake Mix
1 1/3 cups water
Prepared chocolate frosting (optional)
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Grease 13x9 inch baking dish.
Beat butter in large bowl until smooth. Beat in eggs and vanilla until blended. Mixture will be lumpy. Add jar mix and water to butter mixture. Stir until well blended.
Pour batter into prepared pan. Bake 25 to 35 minutes or toothpick inserted into center comes out clean. Cool in pan on wire rack. Frost, if desired.
