Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 cups milk
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 cup oil
  • 2 eggs
  • 6 cups flour
  • 2 packages of yeast

Preparation

Step 1

Heat milk until hot or until skim forms.
Add sugar, salt, oil and eggs to a mixing bowl and mix well: add milk. Slowly add 3 cups of flour. Put yeast in a 1/2 cup warm water. Let this stand for 5 minutes and then
add to the above mixture. Cover and place in the oven for 1 hour on warm. Remove from oven and stir in 3 more cups of flour.
Place in the refrigerator for as little as 1 hour or as long as 2 days. I always do this a day ahead. Several hours before you plan to serve them, roll them out on a floured board. Dip in melted butter and place on cookie sheet. Let them rise approximetely 2 hours. Bake at 400 for about 15 minutes or until lightly browned.

Of all the homemade roll recipes I have tried, this is my favorite.
