Ingredients

  • 2-1/4 cups sifted all purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon ground cloves
  • 1/8 teaspoon salt
  • 2 cups ground blanched almonds
  • 1 cup (2 sticks) butter, softened
  • 2 cups powdered sugar
  • 2 egg yolks
  • Extra powdered sugar

Preparation

Step 1

Sift flour, cinnamon, cloves and salt into medium size bowl. Stir in almonds. Beat butter, sugar and egg yolks in a large bowl with mixer on high speed until light and fluffy. Stir in flour mixture until well blended. Pinch off dough, about 2 teaspoonfuls at a time and roll lightly with fingertips to a 2" length. Place on lightly greased cookie sheets, 1" apart, curve into crescents. Bake in a moderate oven (350 degrees for 20 minutes) or until lightly tinged with brown. Cool on wire racks. Roll in powdered sugar.
