Apple Upside-Down Banana Cake

Ingredients
- 1 T. butter or margarine, melted
- 1/4 c. firmly packed brown sugar
- 1 1/2 c. thinly sliced peeled Granny Smith apple
- 1 1/4 c. flour
- 1 t. B.P.
- 3/4 t. cinnamon
- 1/2 t. soda
- 1/4 t. nutmeg
- 1/8 t. salt
- 1/4 c. butter or margarine, softened]
- 1/3 c. sugar
- 1/3 c. firmly packed brown sugar
- 1/2 c. mashed ripe bananas
- 1 t. vanilla
- 1 large egg
- 1/4 c. orange juice
- 2 T. finely chopped pecans, toasted

Preparation
Step 1
Coat bottom of 9" round cake pan with melted butter. Sprinkle 1/4 cup brown sugar over butter. Arrange apple slices spokelike, working from center of pan to edge; set aside.
Combine flour and next 5 ingds. (flour through salt) in a bowl, stir well. Set aside. Beat 1/4 cup butter, and sugars at medium speed of mixer until well blended. Add banana, vanilla, and egg; beat well. Add flour mixture to creamed mixture alternately with orange juice, beginning and ending with flour mixture; beat well after each addition. Stir in pecans. Pour batter over apple slices.
Bake 350* for 30 mins. or until toothpick comes out clean. Let cool in pan 5 minutes on wire rack. Loosen cake from sides of pan, using narrow metal spatula. Invert onto cake plate; cut into wedges. Serve Warm.
