Ingredients

  • 1 6 oz. package semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1/2 cup sweetened condensed milk
  • 1 Tbsp. butter
  • 1/4 tsp. salt
  • 3/4 cup walnuts, chopped
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • 1 1/4 cups sifted flour
  • 1/2 tsp. soda
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 1 cup firm packed brown sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • 1 1/2 cups quick-cook oats

Step 1

Melt chocolate chips, condensed milk, 1 Tbsp. butter and 1/4 tsp. salt over boiling water. Remove from heat. Add 1/2 cup walnuts, and 1 tsp. vanilla. Set aside.

Sift flour, soda, and 1/2 tsp. salt.

Cream 1/2 cup butter and gradually add brown sugar. Add egg, 1 tsp. vanilla; blend well. Stir in dry ingredients and oats. Press 2/3 of mixture in greased 9x9" pan and spread with chocolate filling. Crumble remaining dry ingredients over filling. Sprinkle with 1/4 cup walnuts.

Bake at 350 for 25-30 minutes until light brown. Cool and cut.
