Ingredients

  • 2 (3 oz) pkg cream cheese
  • 1/2 cup Crisco
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla
  • 1 1/2 lb sifted powdered sugar
  • 1/4 cup hot water
  • 4 (1 oz) squares chocolate, melted
  • 1/4 cup Crisco
  • 3 eggs
  • 2 1/4 cup plain flour
  • 1/2 tsp baking soda
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 3/4 cup milk

Step 1

Mix cream cheese, 1/2 cup Crisco, vanilla, powdered sugar, hot water and melted chocolate, blending well. (This will be the frosting). For the cake, take 2 cups of the frosting and mix in an additional 14 cup Crisco. Blend in eggs, one at a time. Sift flour, salt and baking soda together. Add alternately with milk. Pour into 2 (9") pans and bake at 350 for 30 = 40 minutes. Cool and frost with remaining frosting.
