Ingredients

  • FROSTING:
  • 2 1/2 cups flour
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 1 cup shortening
  • 1 egg yolk +enough milk to make 2/3cup
  • 8 to 10 apples
  • depending on size
  • 2 handfuls cornflakes
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 tsp. cinnamon
  • 1 egg white
  • 1 tbsp. water
  • 2 tbsp. vannilla
  • 1 cup powdered sugar

Preparation

Step 1

Mix flour,salt. shortening and egg yolk mixed with milk. roll one half of the dough to fill 10x15 cookie sheet.

Sprinkle bottom crust with crushed corn flakes.

Prepare apples and place over crust and flakes.

Sprinkle with sugar and cinnamon.

Roll out other half of crust and place on top.
pinch edges.

Beat egg white until stiff, and bruch over crust.
Bake at 400 degrees until apples are done.

While still warm, frost with powdered sugar, water and vanilla mixture.

I don't always have cornflakes. Grandpa likes frosted flakes and I use them
