Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground chuck
  • 1 pound sausage (I use Jimmy Dean regular sausage.)
  • 1 medium onion, finely diced
  • 1 shallot, finely diced
  • 1/2 ½ teaspoon minced garlic
  • 1/2 ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • 2 bags cole slaw cabbage
  • 3 Tablespoons soy sauce
  • 3 Tablespoons Italian salad dressing
  • 2 packages egg roll wraps (available in your grocer’s produce section)
  • Water for sealing the egg rolls
  • Oil for frying

Step 1

1. Brown the ground chuck breaking it up into fine pieces, drain off the grease, and put into large mixing bowl.
2. Brown the sausage, breaking it up into fine pieces, then drain, and add to the beef.
3. Add the onion, shallot, garlic, black pepper, cabbage, soy sauce, and salad dressing to the meat and mix it all together. Allow it to sit until the cabbage is wilted, about 10 minutes.
4. Fill and roll the egg rolls according to the directions on the egg roll wrapper package
5. In a skillet set over moderately high heat, heat the oil and fry the egg rolls until golden brown on all sides, using tongs to turn them. Drain on paper towels. Serve when cool enough to eat.

Note: Make sure to seal the egg rolls well to prevent leakage. If an egg roll tears or leaks during frying, the heated oil will spatter.
