Ingredients
- 1/4 cup butter
- 1/4 cup flour
- 2 1/2 cups milk
- 1 cup water
- 2 tsp. worcestershire sauce
- 1 1/2 tsp. ground mustard
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 1/4 tsp. cayenne pepper
- 2 cups sharp shredded cheddar cheese
- garlic or heb seasoned salad croutons,optional

Step 1
Melt butter in a large saucepan over medium heat. Stir in flour until smooth; cook 1 minute, stirring constantly. Stir in milk, water, worcestershire sauce, mustard, salt and cayenne pepper. Bring to a boil, stirring frequently. Reduce heat; simmer 10 minutes, stirring frequently. Add cheese; stir until melted. Ladle soup into bowls. Serve with croutons if desired.
