Preparation
Step 1
1.Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Spray a 9×13 pan with nonstick cooking spray. Set aside.
2.In a large bowl, beat the cake mix, eggs, and butter together on low speed just until combined. Fold in the Milky Way chunks.
3.Pour the batter into the pan; it will be thick. Press into an even layer (you might have to use wax paper to do this). Get it as close to the edges as you can without having any holes.
4.Bake 15-20 minutes, or until puffed and set and a knife inserted in the center comes out with a few crumbs. Don’t overbake, or it will be dry. Let cool completely.
5.In a medium saucepan over low heat; melt together the heavy cream and 3 cups of chopped Milky Ways, stirring constantly. As it starts to melt, switch to a wire whisk to help break down the lumps. It will take some time for it to smooth out completely, but the lumps will go away. Just stick with it.
6.Let cool for 5 minutes then pour directly over the cooled bars and smooth out in an even layer. Let sit at room temperature for 20 minutes then transfer to the fridge to cool and set completely, about 2 hours. Slice and enjoy. The Ganache will always be a little gooey, but for cleaner cutting, freeze the bars first.
