Ingredients

  • 1 cup plus 2 Tbsp flour
  • 1/2 tsp baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 3/4 cup brown sugar, firmly packed
  • 1/2 cup butter, softened
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • 1 egg
  • 12 oz. pkg Semisweet Chocolate Chips, divided
  • 1/2 cup chopped nuts (optional)
  • Nonstick Cooking Spray

Step 1

Preheat oven to 375 degrees Fahrenheit. In small bowl, combine flour, baking soda and salt; Set aside. In large bowl, combine brown sugar, butter and vanilla; Beat until creamy. Add the egg and beat well. Gradually add the flour mixture and mix well. Stir in 1 1/3 cups chocolate chips and nuts. Line a 9” square pan with foil and spray with nonstick cooking spray. Bake the bars for 23-25 minutes.

Remove from oven and sprinkle remaining 2/3 cup chocolate chips over the top. Allow to stand until the chips become shiny; Spread the melted chocolate chips with a spatula. Allow bars to cool and chill them for 5-10 minutes in order to set the chocolate.
