I made the dough in the bread machine. I found this in a bread machine recipe book a while back.

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2

    pound recipe

  • 1

    cup water

  • 1

    egg

  • 3

    cups all-purpose flour

  • 3/4

    tsp salt

  • 1/4

    cup shortening

  • 1/4

    cup sugar

  • 3

    tsp yeast

Directions

Place all ingredients in the bread pan, select dough setting and press start. When complete turn out dough onto a floured countertop. Separate the dough into 10 or 12 pieces. Roll the pieces into balls and flatten them. Place on greased baking sheet. Cover and let rise 10 to 15 minutes until almost doubled. (Watch them carefully because they rise fast and you don't want them too big.) Preheat oven to 400 degrees. Bake 12 to 15 minutes until golden brown. Remove from oven and cool on wire racks.
