Ingredients
- Melt in a 2 quart saucepan over medium high heat:
- 2 tbs. butter
- Add and cook, stirring until golden:
- 1/2 ½ cup chopped onions
- Add and stir until coated, about 3 minutes
- 1 cup basmati rice
- Pepper

Step 1
Stir in:
2 cups water or chicken stock
Salt, if using water
Bring to a boil, cover and cook over low heat until liquid is absorbed and rice is tender about 15 minutes. Don’t stir in mixture. Let stand, covered 5 minutes; sprinkle with
2 tbs. toasted walnuts, chopped or
2 tbs. fresh parsley, chopped
