Ingredients

  • 1 3/4 cups flour
  • 1/4 cup cocoa
  • 3/4 tsp. baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp. baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1 1/2 sticks butter, softened
  • 3/4 cup lightly packed brown sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 ounces unsweetened chocolate, melted
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 1 tsp. vanilla

Step 1

Preheat oven to 350 degrees, line a muffin tin with paper liners.

Whisk together the flour, cocoa, baking soda, baking powder, and salt. In a medium bowl cream the butter and sugar until light and fluffy, about 3 minutes.

Add the eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition. Beat in the melted chocolate. Reduce speed to low and add the flour mixture alternately with the buttermilk in batches, beginning and ending with the flour mixture and beating just until blended. Add the vanilla.

Spoon mixture into the muffin tins, and bake for 15- 20 minutes.
