Ingredients

  • 2 T. butter, softened
  • 1/3 c. sugar
  • 2 egg whites
  • 1/3 c. skim milk
  • 1/3 c. unsweetened applesauce
  • 1 t. vanilla
  • 1 1/3 c. flour
  • 2 t. B.P.
  • 1/4 t. salt
  • 3 c. peeled, thinly sliced Golden Delicious apple
  • 3 T. flour
  • 3 T. brown sugar
  • 1/4 t. cinnamon
  • 1 T. butter, melted

Step 1

Line 9" sq. pan with aluminum foil, allowing 6" of foil to extend over 2 opposite sides of pan. Coat foil with Pam; set aside.

Cream 2 T. butter and sugar on medium speed of mixer until light and fluffy (about 5 mins). Add egg whites; beat 2 mins on medium or until well blended. Add milk, applesauce and vanilla; mix well.

Combine 1 1/3 c. flour, B.P., and salt. Add to creamed mixture, stirring just until moistened. Spread into pan; arrange apple slices in single layer in 3 rows, core side down, on top of batter, pressing gently into batter.

Combine 3 T. flour, brown sugar, and cinnamon; stir well. Add melted butter, and toss well; sprinkle over apples. Bake 350* for 45 mins. or until browned; cool completely in pan.
