Duanes mom made the recipe every year. It is probably his very favorite pie. I love the smell of it cooking and she and I had lots of fun spending the day together making it. It is one of my favorite memories of her.
- 3 pints basin meat (ground beef-1-1/2 quarts, cooked)
- 3 pints basin apples ( 4-1/2 quarts ground apples)
- 6 c. sugar
- 2 c. vinegar
- 2 teas. ginger
- 3 teas. cinnamon
- 3 teas. nutmeg
- 1-1/2 teas cloves
- 3 teas black pepper
- salt to taste
- 1 to 2 lbs. dark raisins ( to your liking)
Put all ingredients in very large kettle and cook til thick. Fill pint jars and process for 20 min.
