Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 4 oz. unsweetened chocolate, chopped
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 1 1/4 cups all purpose flour
  • 2 tsp. ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 4 eggs, beaten
  • 1 tsp. vanilla extract
  • 1 1/2 cups halved red and/or green candied cheeries, divided
  • 1 cup chopped walnuts

Step 1

In a heavy saucepan, melt the butter and chocolate over low heat. Cool for 10 minutes. In a bowl, combine the sugar, flour, cinnamon and salt. Stir in the cooled chocolate mixture, eggs and vanilla until smooth. Fold in 1 1/4 cups cherries and the walnuts.

Transfer to a greased 13 in. x 9 in. baking pan. Arrange remaining cherries over the top. Bake at 350 degrees for 35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted near the center comes out clean. Cool on a wire rack. Cut into bars.
