Ingredients

  • Cherry Frosting:
  • 1 cup Crisco
  • 3 cups sugar
  • 3 3/4 cup plain flour
  • 6 large eggs
  • 1 stick butter
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla
  • 3/4 cup milk
  • 1/2 (10 oz) jar maraschino cherries, chopped fine
  • 3 oz cream cheese
  • 2 cups powdered sugar
  • 1/2 stick butter, melted
  • 1/2 jar chopped cherries
  • 1/2 cp coconut
  • 1/2 cup chopped nuts
  • 1 tsp almond flavoring

Preparation

Step 1

Cream Crisco, butter, sugar, eggs and vanilla. Add flour alternately with milk. Fold in chopped cherries. Pour in tube pan and place in cold oven. Bake for 2 hours at 275 degrees. Cool on rack about 10 minutes. Remove from pan and cool completely. Mix together the ingredients for Cherry frosting and frost cold cake.
